What is a Christian?

Many people today think of Jesus as a great teacher.

But when you look into the Bible you can see that Jesus claims to be more than just that. Jesus claims that each of us has a broken relationship with God, that he himself is the Son of God, and that the only way for us to have a restored relationship with God is to put our trust in him.

These claims can be summarised in his famous words in the Bible:

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

Jesus’ claims are bold and very exclusive. His claims were unpopular with many people back in his time, just as they may be unpopular with various groups today. However, if what he says is true then it has serious implications for the way in which each of us should live our lives.

Being a Christian means being a person who puts their trust in Jesus and follows his example of life.
